What is the most effective way of increasing the sales of your plants and trees, week by week, month by month?

When customers browse in your store, they invariably look at two quite different things.

Of course, they are there to look at the plants and trees, and in so doing they will home in on what looks right for them and what fits their particular needs and requirements.

But before making a purchase the customer will also look at something else. Something that is not a plant or a tree, or even the container that houses the product they are thinking of buying.

The customer will look at the label.

Primarily the customer is looking at the label to ascertain the price and to check specific details of the product that he or she is thinking of buying. Yet at the same time the customer is subconsciously looking for something else – and that is a simple reassurance that the plant or tree is of high quality.

Which raises the question, how does the customer get this reassurance? And the answer is, it is the quality of the label that makes a significant difference to the decision to buy or not to buy.

Whether the customer is looking at a self-tie label, a loop label, a stick-in, a swing tag, a bed card, or anything else, what helps tip the customer into the decision to buy, rather than walk on to look elsewhere, is a quality label with a clear, colourful illustration and clear information.

The reason for this is simple. All of us have the feeling that higher quality goods have higher quality labels. Cheap and cheerful products have simple labels that offer minimal information and poor quality pictures. However, if the label is of high quality, then it follows that the product must be too.

  • POP Impact: 70% of Fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) purchases are decided in the shop (POPAI 2013), maybe even more in garden centres
  • Proctor & Gamble Co. believes shoppers make up their mind about a product in about the time it takes to read this sentence (WSJ 2005)
  • 70% spend less than 30 minutes in a garden centre (USA 1996)

Which is why we exist: to provide the quality labels that will increase the sale of plants and trees in your Retail Plant Nursery or Garden Centre. If you have any questions please do call me on 01604 881 881 or take a look at our website at www.easitill.co.uk
